In 2016, Nick Moutzouris received a nomination from the Sir John Monash Awards in sustainability practices.
In 2018, Monash Vale Early Learning Centre was awarded the National Australian Winner for the Little Scientist Early Stem Award. This was for our child-led inquiry project on water harvesting. This showcased our implementation of inquiry-based learning for 3 to 5 years old and demonstrated the children’s independent ideas, investigation, discoveries and methodical approach.
Monash Vale Early Learning Centre is recognised as a Little Scientist House. This identifies to our children, parents, peers and the wider community, our service’s commitment to hands-on, inquiry-based STEM education. It is designed to recognise services and schools that promote an active learning environment, incorporating best practice elements such as inquiry-based learning, metacognition and co-construction.
In 2018, Monash Vale ELC was published and featured ECA monthly articles on the implementation of inquiry projects and child-led investigations.
In 2018, Monash Vale ELC received an overall rating in exceeding in all areas by ACEQUA and the Department of Education.
In 2019, Monash Vale ELC, received all the benchmarks in the Department of Health and Human services “Healthy Together Achievement program’.
In 2019, Monash Vale ELC’s pre-school teachers presented at the Sonic Boom conference in Sydney and was featured in the Little Scientist Book of Inquiry projects.
In 2019, our Pre-School room led in the development of our ‘STEM lab’ which is our multi-purpose space for children to explore STEM led experiences and inquiry. The space has been designed and developed with the children and continuing to grow. Our ‘STEM lab’ was presented by the Pre-School Teacher, Shanika Dantanarayana and Karen Turner at the ECA (Early Childhood Australia) conference.
In 2020, Monash Vale Early Learning Centre celebrated 26 years of service.
In 2020, Monash Vale ELC team featured on ECA online learning modules around the implementation of digital technologies in early childhood.
